Trattoria Da Romano, Burano

A family tradition, in Venice, is a trip on the lagoon to visit the islands of Torcello and Burano, with lunch at our favourite restaurant: Trattoria Da Romano. Started in the 1920’s by Romano Barbaro, this is a family run business providing the very best in Adriatic seafood, served with impeccable style. The building was originally a lace making workshop. It has a huge internal space, dotted with pillars, decorated in red, green and white, with walls covered in painting and drawings created by diners over the years. The sense of tradition and continuity is wonderful and actively curated by Romano’s son, Orazio. Specialities of the house include the absolute best risotto available anywhere and, of course, beautifully prepared fresh fish.
