Driving from Portland to the Oregon coast last summer, we chanced upon the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum in McMinnville, which, amazingly, turned out to be the new home of the Hughes H-4 Hercules, better known as the Spruce Goose. Seen here towering over an Me 262, the sheer scale of the behemoth of the sky (well she did fly for a distance of one mile at an altitude of 70ft) is breathtaking.
