Commissioned in 1939 just before the outbreak of war and celebrated for her distinguished service, this iconic light cruiser has been part of the London skyline since the early 1970’s. She is owned and maintained by the Imperial War Museum and well worth a visit. I first went aboard as a child with my grandfather and then, many years later, for a corporate hospitality event. Interestingly, the forward guns are trained on London Gateway Services on the M1.
